I pray this is the last violent law enforcement death I post this year! I have made this statement in the past. “Twenty years ago people would fight with the police to get away. Now, they fight with the police to kill us.” This is an example of such an incident. After being shot Corporal Ballard ran from the suspect to get cover. The suspect chased him and shot him numerous times instead of continuing to run away. This man was only 32 years old and had a wife and young daughter. Makes me want to cry…. A “simple” traffic stop leads to an officers death. If you wonder why officers are “on their toes” when you are stopped this is why. All of us know that a simple traffic stop can lead easily lead to a life and death situation. My condolences and prayers to Officer Delos Santos-Barbosa’s family and Ponce, Puerto Rico. Chief Gregory Agent Benjamín De los Santos-Barbosa succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained four days earlier following a vehicle pursuit in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
