A “simple” traffic stop leads to an officers death. If you wonder why officers are “on their toes” when you are stopped this is why. There are so many of us getting shot again this year. In Dane County more and more guns are being found on arrested subjects. I ask all officers to stay alert. Chief Gregory Deputy Sheriff David Wade was shot and killed at approximately 8:30 am as he attempted to serve an eviction notice at a residence near the intersection of CR 66 and Midwest Boulevard, outside of Mulhall, Oklahoma. Trooper Anthony Borostowski was killed in a single vehicle crash at mile marker 89 on eastbound I-90/94 in Sauk County. He was on patrol at approximately 4:00 am when his patrol car left the roadway and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Trooper Borostowski was a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard and had served with the Wisconsin State Patrol for three years. Assistant Chief Deputy Greenwood was ambushed in his department parking lot when he arrived to work and died Monday, April 3, 2017. I will continue to post when an officer dies a violent death. Two people, Johnny Johnson, 45 years old, of Deer Valley Road and Benjamin Roebuck, 37 years old, of Deer Valley Road have been charged with Food Stamp Offense – Unauthorized Use of Foods Stamps $100 – $5,000 as Party to a Crime. The work of a police K9 can be downright dirty. Not many shifts go by without Officer James Brown heading home wet, muddy, and covered in dog drool. Officer Brown and K9 Tonto’s shift on March 2 proved no different. At 11:59 pm they were dispatched to assist an outside agency in attempting to locate a fleeing suspect. The suspect fled from officers on foot. K9 Tonto located the suspect’s track and followed it. Tonto tracked the suspect for .41 miles and located him hiding in a small river, partially submerged. On Sunday, February 11, 2017 at 1:04 am the Town of Madison PD had additional personnel working specifically for OWI enforcement. The assigned officer observed a tan Chevy Suburban operating at an excessive speed on John Nolen Drive. The officer activated his emergency lights on John Nolen Drive. The suspect vehicle increased its speed and headed west bound on the West Beltline Hwy, then exited on Rimrock Road and headed south bound. It is with deep sadness to report that I was advised by Officer Pucillo that K9 Brando will be euthanized today at 1:00 pm due to health complications. Brando recently had his 15th birthday. Brando became part of our department in 2004 and worked hard until 2013 when Brando finally retired. According to his handler and owner Officer Pucillo Brando really missed going to work up until his health started to deteriorate. Our condolences to Officer Pucillo and his family. Godspeed Brando.
