Armed Robbery

Incident: Armed Robbery 2020-031737

On 01/23/2020 at approximately 7:05 pm the Town of Madison Police Department
was dispatched to 2570 Rimrock Rd for a report of 2 males fighting with shots fired in the parking lot of the Capitol Petro store. A Town of Madison Police officer was on patrol in the area and also heard a single shot.

Upon arrival TMPD made contact with the victim, a 24 yr old male from Madison.
The victim reported he was there to purchase marijuana from an unknown subject.
During the drug transaction the suspect pulled a handgun and pointed it at the
victim’s head. The victim struggled with the suspect and during this struggle one gunshot was fired. The victim was ultimately able to disarm the suspect.
The suspect fled the area on foot. A track was attempted with a police K-9 but the suspect was not located. The suspect is described as a 25-30 year old light skinned black male wearing all black clothing.

The victim suffered minor injuries during the incident and was treated by
paramedics on scene. The fired bullet struck a portion of the business causing
minor damage.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

The Town of Madison Police were assisted in this incident by the Dane County
Sheriff’s Office, City of Madison Police Department, Fitchburg Police Department, and the University of Wisconsin Police K-9 Unit.
