Details of Incident:

On May 14, 2018 at 12:02 pm officers were dispatched to a residence on Burr Oak Lane for a burglary in progress.  The caller, a concerned neighbor, provided a description of the female suspect and male suspect.  While en route an officer observed the female suspect, made contact, and secured her in the rear of his squad car.  He continued to the crime scene and met his partners.

Officers observed the front door ajar and had additional officers set up a perimeter around the house.  Officers announced themselves and did not receive a response.  Utilizing a ballistic shield two officers entered the residence and located the male suspect hiding in a bedroom.  He was taken into custody without incident.

Once the scene was secured officers talked with the witness and eventually made contact with the home owners who returned home.  One victim knew the suspect but had not seen him in months and was never inside their residence prior to burglarizing their house.

Money was found on the suspect that was stolen from the house.  The female was transported to the Dane County Jail and booked and released on her charges.  Ortiz was booked into the Dane County Jail on his charges noted above.
