On Sunday, April 1, 2018 at 2:09 pm officers were dispatched to the area of the 2100 block of Rimrock Road.  The 24 year old male victim told officers he was chased by two subjects in a gray Toyota that “had a beef” with him.  The victim pulled into a parking lot where he thought there would be video cameras outside.  The suspect vehicle pulled into the parking lot immediately after him, stopping on the passenger side of the victim vehicle.

The male victim immediately exited his vehicle and started to run away from his vehicle in the empty parking lot.  A rear seat passenger at the suspect vehicle fired one round hitting the door post near where the victim’s head would have been.  The incident was captured by video that was obtained by the police department.

The department obtained information regarding the driver of the vehicle.  We located the vehicle Monday, April 2, 2018 and set up surveillance on the vehicle.  Shortly before 3:25 pm officers observed the driver of the suspect vehicle enter his vehicle and leave.  Officers attempted to stop this vehicle.  The suspect failed to stop.  According to department policy, officers pursed the suspect due to the violent nature of the crime.  Speeds reached 100 mph on the westbound Beltline Hwy between Rimrock Road and Whitney Way.  Officers terminated the pursuit as they approached Whitney Way.  The suspect exited Whitney Way, hit a curb, and deflated two of his tires.  He then pulled into a driveway and fled on foot.

The driver entered the Hy-Vee grocery store.  He was observed by officers inside and was chased out of the store.  The suspect ran and was arrested at the intersection of Odana Lane and Odana Road.  The suspect did NOT have a gun on him or with him.  He was eventually taken to the Dane County Jail and booked in on a Parole Hold.

We are still attempting to locate the suspect in the rear seat that pulled the trigger.  This is a targeted shooting and not a random act of violence.  However, the community should be aware there is a suspect at large who should be considered armed and dangerous and willing to use deadly force against persons he has a “grudge with.”  Once additional information is available to be released regarding this suspect it will be released.
