The Town of Madison Police Department reports enforcement results from ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ crackdown on drunken driving

Town of Madison officers made 82 traffic stops and 3 drunken driving arrests during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown from Dec. 15, 2016, to Jan. 1, 2017.

During the crackdown on drunken driving, officers also issued citations and made arrests during traffic stops for the following:

  • 20 safety belt violations
  • 12 speeding violations
  • 21 operating after revocation or suspension violations
  • 82 other citations were issued
  • 2 drug arrests
  • 2 felony arrests
  • 2 warrant arrests

“Drunken driving is entirely preventable. We firmly believe that our intensified enforcement during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown and throughout the upcoming year will help deter people from driving if they’re impaired,” said Chief Gregory.  “Through our traffic safety enforcement and education efforts, we are striving to reduce the number of preventable traffic deaths to zero in Wisconsin.”
