I received this email the other day from a citizen. The location puts this event in the city of Madison. The uniform description makes me think the officers may be deputies. The email has been forwarded to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and city of Madison Police Department. But I wanted to share it with everyone here as well.
I don’t know if you are the appropriate person to contact, but this was the e-mail link I found on-line. If I am wrong, please forward as you deem appropriate.
I wanted to send a quick note to the supervisor and potentially the officers that I interacted with.
Monday August 8th, 2016, my sleeping son and niece were waiting in the parking lot at Bagel’s Forever, my parents were inside purchasing bagels. I had the car running and air conditioning on to help my son sleep after being at the Madison zoo, very nice zoo by the way. Two officers in an unmarked car came out of the shop. They must have noticed us sitting in the car next to them. One of the officers got out of the car and brought over a bag of beanie babies and allowed my niece to pick out a toy for herself (a bunny) and my son (a frog), who was still sleeping. This was a very thoughtful gesture and I just wanted to express my thanks. The green frog has been his constant companion since that day.
I regret that I didn’t get the officer’s names. They were in brown uniforms and a light brown unmarked car. I was surprised that they would take the time to stop by our car and give out beanie babies. If you find out who they are, can you please thank them again for me? I appreciate them taking the initiative to positively interact with the community. With all of the negative stories that you hear about, I wanted you to know about one of the good things that is going on.
Thank you to the citizen that took the time to write this email. Rest assured we will try to find the correct officers to thank them.
